Post The Gospels as _Bildungsroman_

Quote:
In other words, when the canonical and apocryphal Gospels are taken together, the entire life of Jesus can be read as a fable whose take-home message is: "Everyone, let's all learn to grow the fuck up and always use our God-given talents to make other people's lives better, not worse, Amen."

FROM
"Life before death--for everybody!"

TO
"Bureaucratic salvation machinery for me and my friends!"

Some cynical scholar once said Jesus came preaching the coming of the Kingdom of God and what came was the church.

There was one Christian and he is dead. There is no Christianity because no one's ever tried it yet.
