Talking Theologyweb: they want evidence that creatoinists quote out of context

http://www.theologyweb.com/forum/sho...8733#post98733

SLPX says to Socrates:

Quote:
Examples? Provide some of your famous out-of-context quotes, chemist, and I will educate you as to what they really mean.

To which Blake Reas, Tweb moderator, says:

Quote:
Unless you have evidence to back up what you are saying about Creationist then do not post.
Interesting that the mods step in to (allegedly) defend the honor of creationists. But one wonders if they ever intervene to defend the honor of a misquoted scientist.

We wonders, yes precious, we wonders....

In any event, perhaps we should bury them with out-of-context quotations. Hell; there's a veritable Gould mine of them with Dr. Stephen Jay.

talkorigins.org has a page about the lies/out of context quotes creationists tell. If you search around alittle in the archive you should be able to find it.

Oh, I've seen the T.O. page.

But I'd wager that a post linking to it wouldn't survive 15 minutes before one of the Tweb moderators would edit it for "linking to a non-christian site" or some other off-the-cuff rationalization.

They delete posts if you link non-christian sites? Kinda limits your resources

Sauron: are you serious that they would not allow a link to talkorigins?

Unless they changed their policies they allow links to T.O.

But you can forget using quotes. They will find some rather bizarre rationalizations to any you will present. Look at this thread.

If you like that thread, you will get a kick of what the "Bad Astronomer" had to say about it. Well the Bad Astronomer had his website cut off because he exceded his bandwidth. Luckly you can read what he said here.

Do they actually believe this sstuff? Do they honestly not see the difference between "The mystery of the missing remnants" and "...the mystery of the missing remnants is solved."? I mean, I'm not sure if it's more scary to think that they do or that they don't.

The people there clearly did not. Indeed the moderator their had a hard time reading the Valentine Pontifex/Ardipithecus actually wrote.

Creationists have an uncanny ability to read only the points they want to see. They fail to truely understand context at all. After all how many times do you fundamentalists making grand interpretations of a handful of scattered Bible verses? They read scientific texts in the same way.

Just out of curiosity, why do so many of the denizens here at II go to Theologyweb? It seems they are unfair, censored, biased, and from what I have seen of their posts, well, not all that bright. Why bother? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm just wondering...
