Default Free Will and Utilitarianism

I just posted Part VIII of the series Ethics Without God just now.

This part concerns my struggle with the free will issue, and its relation to ethics.

Moral philosophers have long held that there is a problem with rule utilitarian theories -- this being the problem that logic seems to insist that rule utilitarianism must collapse into act utilitarianism.

Once I got a grasp of the free will issue, I came up with a way of conceiving rule utilitarianism that is immune from this problem of collapsing into act utilitarianism.

I hope you find it interesting.
