Smile Supreme Court rejects Kentucky's 10C monument

Technically, the Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal by Kentucky to lower court rulings forbidding the Ten Commandments monument...

Reuter's news story

How long will it take people to realize that governmental 10C monuments are unconstititional?

Thumbs up

Thanks for the heads-up, beejay. The Supreme Court seems none too anxious to have a go at these decalogue cases, and in this instance the decision is perfectly understandable. This case wasn't a close call given the history underlying the Kentucky law in dispute. The court of appeals decision that the Supreme Court let stand is Adland v. Russ, 307 F.3d 471 (6th Cir. 2002).

from the Reuter's news story
Alabama, Indiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and Utah supported Kentucky's appeal.
...
Last year, the Supreme Court rejected a similar appeal by Indiana arguing that it should be allowed to erect a limestone monument with the Ten Commandments on the statehouse lawn in Indianapolis.
Sheesh! Is every state that has a similar case going to appeal to the Supreme Court?

Indiana: Denied.
Kentucky: Denied.
Alabama: How about us? No?
MS: How about us? No?
OH: How about us? No?
...
Do they think the Court's just going to crack one of these times and say, "Well, OK. But only because you said, 'Please.'"

As long as we have to keep telling people that the First Commandment and the First Amendment are mutually exclusive.
