Default Dinosaur evolution

Has anybody considered Dinosaur fossils as proof of evolution? For instance we can probably trace the evolution of the Ceratopsians, from pssicatosaurus(sp?) to Microceratops, to Protoceratops, to Monocolus and eventually to Triceratops and his ilk. Likewise, the Pachycephalosaurs apparentally branched off from some point....

Actually, yes, at least to a point. There were indeed, several branches to the family, as there are in most families. No one can say how many, as the fossils are not all that common. Here’s the story of a new, fossil find that has shuffled things around a bit.

Liaoceratops was a puny forebear of the feisty Triceratops. Size, horns and spectacular frills came later in ceratopsian evolution. By the time the dinosaurs became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period around 65 million years ago, Triceratops could take on the mighty Tyrannosoarus.
