Exclamation Looking for info on Theology students who lost their faith

In another thread Draygomb mentioned "... a study that listed the main reason that Theology Majors drop out or change majors twice as fast as any other major is conversion to atheism," but didn't have the citation handy.

This reference fascinates me, as it comes close to my own experience.

Anyway, I'm just curious as to whether anybody else has come across this or similar information, and where I might find it online or in print.

Thanks all!

I have a Masters in religious studies, but I never "lost my faith," since I have never been a theist. I never encountered any theist colleagues in grad school who lost their faith or became atheists, but I encountered plenty who reevaluated their beliefs and made some changes.

However, my field was comparative religion, so that might have something to do with it. I was not in a program designed to lead to the ministry.

Just saw this....
I'm a divinity student - and I went through a brief "blip" of faith last year and then lost it again...

I don't know of any stats on how general that is, however.
