Default To fellow Christians who post here:

I would just like to say that I have been posting here since '99 off and on and I have never seen one atheist get saved. I have however seen several Christians become atheists. I have also seen many Christians modify their views and adopt more liberal theology. Some people may think that is a good thing. I think perhaps it can be but in some cases it isn't. I say that because if you start modifying what you believe too much you may end up with somthing that is not Christianity. I also think that if you stop believing in Hell, you must ask yourself what justification do you have for believing in Heaven?
You may make some friends here, and you may get compliments. Don't learn to need that. It will destroy you if you let it. There is nothing romantic about living your life according to the Bible. It means you aren't imaginitive enough to find your own truth. As you know Christianity is about admitting that you are a failure in Life and that you need God. You need to count everything you have done in your own strength as a loss. If you try to keep your life you will lose it and if you lose your life for Christ you will gain it.
This is not a "sexy" concept to people in the world. There is no way to get people to like this idea. It must come from the Holy Spirit. So I ask you:
Make sure God really wants you here. Don't think you will convert any body. People don't come here to hear the gospel and most know all they want to know about Christianity. Also if you just like to debate, realize that you may improve your skills but you won't win any.
Thank you.
Good bye, I don't feel God is calling me to post here any longer. I feel that I have gotten right with God and realized that I had a lot of pride.

Default [moderator hat on]

Since this has nothing to do with General Religious Discussions, I'm moving this to ~E~.

Thank you for the testimonial. I do think it is a good thing.

That is correct. When debates favor reasoned argument, reason always wins.

Sad. This is what I thought for a long time too.

I grew out of it.

I still believe mutual knowledge (if not understanding) between Christians and atheists is possible. Pardon my romanticism...and my love of paradox.

May you be happy with whatever you end up with.

Any "Christian" that got "deconverted" here wasn't a Christian to begin with. Though I'm not a professing Christian, I'm a pretty adamant defender of the Judaeo-Christian ethic - and believe me, anyone that commits themselves to the task of getting me to reject that will end up foaming at the mouth and tearing out their hair.

Actually, there was one that I'm aware of. Are you familiar with A Theist Gal? Her previous handle was "Atheist Gal." She converted to Catholicism.

And this is why Christianity succeeds as the best marketed religion in the world. It convinces the "buyer" of his "need" for a product, then provides the "product" that fulfulls the "need."

In my view, it is an outrage against a person's soul to convince them of their own wretchedness from the outside. They need to come to that realization on their own.
