Default Christians and the Secular Web

This is an interesting comment but it was off-topic in the thread it was in...

My response:

1) Even if every Christian here agreed to unite on certain issues, the non-Christians here would not stop pointing out that Christians disagree on just about everything under the sun. They would still be aware of that.

2) You say Christians should unite but are you willing to agree with someone who claims to be a Christian but denies what you hold to be an essential truth? What then?

3) The differing goals of Christians here will make it hard to unite anyway. Some are here to try to convert people to Christ. Others are here to argue that their form of Christianity is free from whatever problem causes non-Christians here to reject other forms. And there are other reasons, I'm sure.

4) I don't think Christians being more united in what they say will gain them any more respect around here. I don't think not uniting is the primary reason they lose the respect of non-Christians on the Secular Web. If Christians want to be respected here then that has more to do with being able to display some self-control, with taking what non-Christians say seriously, with trying to answer questions asked of them, with their ability to use logic and provide substantive back up for what they write, etc.

Well Helen, I respect you and you just gave some valid points. I think a lot of the Christians come in here just to fight us evil atheists. But there are a few really cool Christians in here that actually think outside the box.
