When our beloved EAP is so shot down by a student in his class that he has to quit his job as a science professor.

And you have to include the part where after the EAP is chased out of the class, the student spends hours witnessing to the rest of the lecture theatre and they all become Christians.
Hurrah!

Yet it is just merely continuing the tradition of Junior being asked a question by that Pesky Band 'o Wandering Jews in which he does not actually answer the question, but they fall into silence.

Default God did create evil

Isa 45:7

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

. . . yeah but they will probably tell you you took it out of context . . . or you need to look at the "spirit" of the passage. . . .

. . . then they will pray for you. . . .

In stories like these, Christians "challenge" and "stand strong for their faith"; people of other persuasions "ridicule" and "mock".

Oh dear IPU...

I love all the www.drdino.com references in there. Chick and Hovind deserve each other.

You mean to say that atheist don't act this way? I don't believe all do, but the majority at these boards do.

Quote:
Next, the EAP is gloating over his obvious victory in smiting the witless Christians yet another year. I hope there aren't really any atheist professors out there that are such assholes. I would guess most of us are remarkably tolerant of other people's faith, since 99% of others believe in some fable or other.
Tolerant? Maybe because you can't do anything about it... but if you had the power to erradicate religion, you wouldn't think it twice.

Quote:
Let's see. Next, the bright Christian student points out that man created the term for "cold." And just what proof does the astute young man have that the term "god" wasn't created by man to comfort those seeking assistance and reassurance that there really is more to life than cold, hard reality? Hmmmmm?
Stick to the story. The question was if God created everything, then He created evil too. Not whether or not God existed.

Quote:
I'll just skip to the end. The Young Christian Student finally defines Evil as the "Absence of god." Now wait a damn minute. Aren't children drilled in Sunday school with the notion that god and Jesus are everywhere?? That he resides in every component of his Creation? That would seem to go against the Christian student's claim about the "absence of god."
There are different levels of description. We use symbolic language in reference to God. In visions, God is described as having some form likened to that of man--as described in Daniel. There is the description where God is everywhere, except in the presence of evil or vice versa. And then there is also the overall belief that nothing, not good nor evil, exists outside of God.

And what the person was trying to say by 'absence of God' is the lack of obedience to God.

Quote:
And why did the Professor have nothing to say? He apparently isn't a very good atheist. Hell, I could have said something, let alone the verbal assault that would have been conjured up by some of my more intellectual brethren who reside here at IIDB.
You sure could have said. But just because you can say anything, it doesn't mean it would be a valid comeback.

Quote:
Once again, a piss poor portrayal of Atheists by the Almighty Christians. Amen indeed.
Just so you don't get the idea that I believe this story, know that I don't.

All religions are not the same. Would I eradicate a religion that mandated the beating of children, the subjugation of women and the stoning of gay people? You bet. Would I eradicate a religion that preached the equality of all people and tolerance towards other ways of life? No, I wouldn't.

Just so this is perfectly clear, cold and dark are decidely things. The definition of thing is:

An entity, an idea, or a quality perceived, known, or thought to have its own existence.

At the very least, the both exist as idea's, but honestly, is there any real way to debate that they are not existant qualities of a lack of heat/light?
