Hello Bibliophile,
A false doctrine is a doctrine which contradicts the Scriptures. Hope that helps, David Mathews |

Here is the Pentecostals doctrine which dictates how women should dress:
1. Modesty 2. Moderation in cost. 3. Inclination toward godliness (decency). 4. Avoidance of outward adornment. 5. Shamefacedness and sobriety. 6. Distinction between male and female. They base this on the following scripture: 1 Timothy 2:8-10 I Peter 3:1-5 I Corinthians 11:13-15 Deuteronomy 22:5 Am I correct to assume--based on scripture--that good Christian women should not wear clothing (e.g., pants, suites, etc.) because they might make them look like men? DM,
So if a slave goes around telling other slaves that they should be free and not obediently serve their masters instead of "Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things "(Titus 2:9), that guy is preaching a false doctrine and is sinning by saying that he should be free? Because he's directly contradicting the Scriptures. |

Heresy is any doctrine which contradicts the "Scriptures" [whatever that means] and/or the Councils of Nicaea, Constantinople, Ephesus and Chalcedon.
None of which stoped the Eastern 'Orthodox' and Western [Roman] 'Orthodox' from waging wars and killing each other over the word 'filioque'. |

Most Christians would say no but this is what Jesus had to say on the subject. Matthew 23 29 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, 30 and say, "If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.' 31 "So you testify against yourselves, that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 "Fill up, then, the measure of the guilt of your fathers. 33 "You serpents, you brood of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell? So Jesus agrees that sons must "fill up the measure of guilt of their fathers" and go to hell for it. [ July 24, 2002: Message edited by: NOGO ]
|

You have made it clear numerous times that you don't believe that christianity has a monopoly on religious truth, but the scriptures clearly don't support that position, quite the contrary. Not to mention your belief that non-christians can make it to heaven. Do you consider your own beliefs a "false doctrine"? How can't it be if any doctrine that contradicts the scriptures is a false one? |
