Post Polygraphs don't work (surprise, surprise -- NOT!)

The current <a href="http://www.nmsr.org/nmsr-hot.htm" target="_blank">Hot News</a> from the New Mexicans for Science and Reason website has a lot of good links on new articles that show what any informed person should have realized many years ago: lie detectors simply do not work as advertised. They are comletely ineffective in general screening and in spite of years of their use to try and catch spies, they have never done so.

There are several other items news items that will interest people here as well.

Paul Eckman had a great chapter discussing polygraphs in his book <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0393321886/qid=1034718408/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/103-1527260-9405430?v=glance&n=507846" target="_blank">"Telling Lies"</a>
which was published waaay back in the 70's. It's good that the government is so up with the times.
