Post Dry county (not just a B-52's song)

What really makes no sense is the fact that you can get beer at any grocery store in some of these places, but god forbid you should try to get some ripple to go with your fishsticks. Sheesh. What's the diff? Alcohol is still alcohol, whether it comes from grain, grapes, juniper berries, what have you.

Did somebody at some point put the kibosh on wine and hard liquor as being Satan's swill? I mean, really, I'd think the Christian folk would be HAPPY to sell wine on Sunday, what with the whole blood of christ thang. Dunno. The reasoning escapes me.
