Default Zacharias Sitchin

I'm impressed as anyone should be at this mans learning. I'm being coaxed into reading some of his material and am wondering if anyone else here has ever read anything by him. I've beeen told that his titles are misleading, but it seems to me like more of the run of the mill alien genetic experiments and search for Atlantis type o stuff.

I've never heard of the guy.
Perhaps you'd be willing to shed some light on his thoughts for the rest of us? Perhaps there's something particular in his writing that you think we'd enjoy discussing?

Sitchin has an interesting premise, that the ‘gods’ of old were extraterrestrials, and a small amount of textural support for his theory in the form of mythology, primarily from ancient Sumer. But he is obsessed with this notion and try’s way too hard to the exclusion of common sense. His credentials as an archaeologist are zero, as a Biblical scholar or expert on cuneiform or ancient Mesopotamia, he is self-taught. His actual degree is in the History of Economics from London University. His profession was a newspaper editor in Israel. He is an amateur. I’ve read most of his books, for fun, but he is often wrong about many things and he will not accept any other explanation than his own. Here are some sites:

To read the Enuma Elish from which he pulls many claims:

I've read his books and it's a good story but total bunk.

He's never publically given a date for the return of the "12th planet",but the majority of his followers believe it was coming sometime in May 2003.

That planet better put the pedal to the metal because May 2003 is already half over.

I haven't been to any of the websites recently, but something tells me the NEW arrival date is sometime in 2012.
