Default Xian columnist attacks evolution

Quote:
In his book, "The Wit & Wisdom of Cal Thomas," the syndicated political columnist writes, "Parents should reassert control over their children's lives by pulling them out of the government schools. "They should see that their children are educated according to their values and beliefs, teaching them the truth about history and every other subject the schools once taught but have now mostly abandoned."

...

He talked of a school superintendent who gave children in grades 1-8 booklets with things to improve their morals, including the 10 Commandments, the Lord's Prayer and a piece on respecting one's mother.

"Who decided that blaspheming God was to be protected and speaking well of him was to be outlawed?" Thomas asked.

And he slapped schools for instilling a lack of hope in teens -- saying suicide is the top cause of teen deaths -- and for teaching evolution. "How are you going to have the mind of Christ when you are hearing that you descended from slime?"

As opposed, of course, to hearing that you are descended from dust, and are inherently sinful and evil?

Tough choice. I'll take slime every day - especially since it's about 3 and a half billion years removed from me, where the dust & sinfulness are much more recent bad seeds in the family tree.

It's Cal. I gave up on Cal a long, looonnnggg time ago. In fact, I think he either fossilized or was embalmed about ten or fifteen years ago, and they just keep recycling parts of his old columns.

Which now outranks teen deaths by drugs and alcohol and drunk driving incidents. Teen suicide also outranks an old #1 foe, polio.

And all along, I thought teenagers were depressed because of tv and music, damn Pink Floyd! Damn them to heck! But apparently its the school's fault. I mean, you can only teach a child about hope during the hours between 8 am and 4 pm. When will the schools learn that the ten commandments give children hope?

No really, when is that gonna happen?

Cal Thomas seems like he has some very nasty bug crawling up his rear end -- he seems perpetually ill-tempered and angry.

I call plagiarism! I already have that exact same book, only mine's called "The wit and wisdom of Ronald Reagan".

So, who stole from whom?

We should be informed!
