Default Army refutes report that chaplain offered water for baptism

I'm very tired but i saw this followup and had to post. Warning, lying, deceit, and tacit admission of pathetic excuses ensues.

Here are some choice bits of total crap. I've taken the opportunity to translate these into normal english.

Quote:
"He did make some of the remarks the reporter attributed to him, but not all to her, and not in the context or with the intent the article appeared to suggest," a statement from the Chief of Chaplains office said.
English: "He said it, all of the quotes are true. He didn't say them all directly to the reporter, but apparantly others at the camp told her, and he isn't denying it. The quotes speak for themselves, the intent of the article is to report facts."

Quote:
The statement also noted that there was no critical shortage of water at the camp
English: "Everyone had enough water to drink. Bathing isn't necessary. It just depends on whether you want to accept jesus or walk around filthy."

Quote:
And the "hour of quoting from the Bible" was simply a normal baptismal service consisting of prayer, singing, Scripture and remarks by the officiating minister,
English: "We couldn't find any snakes to handle, but we did speak in tongues. Catholics only take like 15 minutes, we do it Right(tm)."

Quote:
I am confident that Chaplain Llano does not, has not and will not use coercion
...
Quote:
But we still want to make sure that any chaplain would not be conducting an ordinance of the church in such a coercive manner
English: Person A "he wouldn't coerce." Person B "It looks like coercian... nahhh"

Quote:
managing editor of The Miami Herald, defended the original story by Meg Laughlin, a Herald reporter. "I don't think the story suggested coercion," he said. "That's just how some people want to read it."
English: "He admitted he said it. Our reporter quoted what he said. The article doesn't suggest anything. She quoted the moron. He said that stuff."

Quote:
"It is quite common for soldiers who do not actively practice religion in peacetime to turn to religion for comfort and solace in times of danger and grief.
English: "There are no atheists in foxholes."

I'm fairly disgusted. I figured you guys would want an update. Basically it looks like the office of chaplains is saying "yeah yeah.. ok it's all true" and then saying "but there's nothing wrong with that." May they burn in whatever hell they believe in.
