Question Buddhist Magazine Closes It's Forums?

If You've bookmarks Tricycle.com's website, you'll get the following message

Due to stress on the server, Tricycle's Bulletin Boards will be out of service while we evaluate our options.

But if you go to Tricycle's home page, there is no longer a link to the message boards (that I've been a part of for a few years).

Tricycle has a right to shut down it's message boards, but shouldn't they have the decency to give an advance warning so that members can at least exchange e-mail addresses or agree on an alternate message board?

Yes, I was on the Tricycle BB's for a couple of years and regret their apparent passing.......

About one week after the "stress on server" notice came up and the "Bulletin Boards" selection panel disappeared from the home page I did try tapping in "Bulletin Boards" on the search facility...........and received a page stating that they had moved to "tricycle.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi" and that if I was not automatically taken there to click "here"..............but only got a "Page cannot be displayed" message whatever I tried

Since then I have received nothing but an old message of leftovers when putting "BB" into the search.

Perhaps the old clan can begin to gather here.....yet as you say, how to let anyone know?

yep..........they do have a right to shut them down...........I'd never read a copy of the mag in my life!!!

Yet politeness rules O.K.?

Their problem is a not uncommon problem. The Secular Web had a similar problem at some point in the past as well.

kalamasutta,

I've only flipped through Trike's mag a couple of times myself, and read an article or two online.

Maybe we can bug Tom into a message board for his site at...

The message boards have been down before, but this is the first time that the link to the message board has been removed from the home page. This makes me think that it might be permanent.
