Question Random Thought, follow me on this...

So, let me see if I got this straight:

Jerry Falwell goes to heaven,
Carl Sagan goes to hell.

Andrea Yates goes to heaven,
Albert Einstein goes to hell.

Am I missing something?

I mean I know "all are deeds are but filthy rags" and all, but ummm, most of these rags that are going to hell seem only somewhat off-white, whereas a lot of these people going to heaven pretty much put their rags into puddles of used motor oil.

Again, am I missing something? <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" />

What if atheists are god's chosen people and "christians" are really the the pawns of the devil? So Sagan in Heaven. Falwell in hell. It's all how you look at it really.

If a real God existed, personal integrity should play a bigger part than obsequious grovelling, when it comes to gaining eternal rewards.

So, even if a God and a heaven exist (no good reason to think so), Christianity's got them wrong, and its followers risk missing everything.

There's Pascal's wager right back at 'em...

Personal integrity does play a big role - but it comes after saving faith. Living in a relationship with God should automatically lead us to want to live a life of integrity.

Saving faith gets us in the door. But we will also have to answer for our actions while in the flesh. Best I can tell there are differences of rewards in heaven just like there are differences of punishment in hell. Personal integrity, I'm sure, will be considered by the impartial judge of all mankind.

This would be the same impartial judge who ordered his followers to behave thusly?:

Quote:
Numbers 31:17
Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

Numbers 31:18
But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
I think I'll pass on his idea of "justice," thank you.

Cheers,

Michael
