No. I see your beliefs and your faith as a wart on you. I see the wart trying to pass itself on. I fret.

Yes. And Astrology, Homeopathy and all the other blindfolds people choose to wear rather than see the world for what it is.

Do you endeavor then to destroy the faith of a believer?
No. I have no mechanism to acheive this. Only believers have the power to change their own mind. I would endeavour to either help them decide for themselves, or oppose the institutions that create believers in the first place.

Then how can you claim that you are not preaching a faulty gospel that leads to death?
1.) Death is inevitable for all.
2.) I preach nothing anyway.
3.) Nothing is perfect, even the synoptic gospels . How many have died in their name?

So what you're saying is that somehow blondegoddess lost her faith while at IIDB, but you will not?

How do you justify this statement?

I don't think I want to deconvert anyone from their religion, though I do encourage liberal forms of most religions as I think they are the most likely to allow for all people to believe as they wish.

Also, a thing that's "just another bath" to YOU may be "a horrid reminder of things I hate about religion" for another...e.g. the song Amazing Grace for me is a reminder of everything I hate about Christianity, while my UU Christian choir director finds it positive and affirming of UU principles. Don't assume that because you find something positive or meaningless that everyone else must agree with you. You don't know what their experiences are.

I have no problem with God,just with the foolishness your religion teaches, such as man was made from dirt,
6000 years young Earth/Universe,etc,its all BS,and you know it.

atheists are not preaching anything,,just following reality,
being born eventualy leads to death for everyone, and every living thing,
belief in God and afterlife reduces the value of human life,IMO.

give man a fish and you will feed him for a day, give man religion and he will starve while praying for food!

I'll come right out and say it: I would like to see religious people lose their faith. I think most of them would be better off. I do enjoy going to Christian internet forums and planting seeds of doubt. But I'm not really trying to deconvert people. I am trying to help people get to a mindset that will allow them to deconvert themselves. I can't do what the Christians do, throw someone in the water and say "Congratulations, you're an atheist!" True atheism is something you have to arrive at yourself.

In that way I am similar to some of the evangelists I despise. But with some important differences:
  • I don't tell lies in order to get people to accept atheism.
  • If I can't answer a question, I say "I don't know" instead of making something up or claiming the answer can be found through faith or something.
  • I don't try to use government resources to spread atheism.
  • I don't go door to door or bother people at home. I use the same venues for public discussion as everyone else.

    edited to add:
  • I do not use guilt or emotional manipulation to try to convince people to accept atheism.

I could care less what you believe. It's when your beliefs start getting shoved down my throat that I start to care.
