I don't think you work at a full time job Fenton, or have a family to take care of, and if you have time to read through 300 posts, that's pretty good evidence you have more free time than I do. In any case I would be wasting what free time I have going on with this pointless and hypocritical Inquisition.

Speaking for myself I'd like to see you post more about General Religious topics and less complaints about how you are treated around here. "Do everything without complaining and arguing" Paul wrote in Philippians.

So forget everything about "taking your sins away" and "imputing righteousness". This isn't going to happen. You're now in a scenario in which the main gods are personifications of universal forces and principles, they don't care about petty human concerns. Only the lesser ones do, and they have you slated for reincarnation as a cockroach due to your rejection of Hinduism (much stronger than our mere unbelief in Hinduism: I'm coming back as a monkey, you need to work your way back up through the animal kingdom over centuries). But you've caught Kali's eye and she's considering torturing you for a while, and maybe biting a few legs off your cockroach form.

I already answered this I think. I clearly said I would be no theist without those things you are telling me to forget. If you are asking if I personally saw her and knew her to be creator God of the universe (somehow, which is not explained) I would ask her who Jesus was, and why he died, and make my decision after that I suppose. If she was going to turn me into a cockroach and let me work off my Karma, I'd probably say "Go ahead, I need a savior or I'll never get there."

My faith is based on the writings of the apostles plus a mystical experience, but primarily the offer Jesus made on the cross.

Hindus have a "Gee I hope I go to heaven if I do enough good works," so, knowing me, I probably never would have believed in it.

Rad
A substantive reply! Thank you.

However, there are a few issues which puzzle me.

"I clearly said I would be no theist without those things you are telling me to forget". Yes, you did, and it still doesn't make sense, unless you have an unusual definition of the word "theist". This is a scenario in which you are facing a deity and it's assumed that you are aware of that fact (i.e. you are somehow aware that this isn't a dream, a trick, or whatever). Therefore you know that deities exist. Therefore you are a theist: a believer in deities. Just as I would be, in this situation.

I suspect that what you mean is that you wouldn't be a deity-worshipper in this situation. However, this raises the question of whether you're using the erroneous definitions of "theism" and "atheism" used against us by some Christians: those who are convinced that "everyone knows God exists" and that the only distinction is the willingness to worship the deity.

"I would ask her who Jesus was, and why he died, and make my decision after that I suppose". Well, you've already been given knowledge that Christianity is false and Hinduism is true. So why ask the question? Isn't the answer likely to be "Jesus was a man who died because he got crucified"? Or are you hoping that Jesus was still a supernatural being, an avatar of a Hindu deity? Why is this especially relevant?

Why is the offer made by Jesus so much better? There's no "original sin" in this scenario, and there is eventual forgiveness of sins for everyone: "working off your karma". You're convinced that you'll be a bad person in every future incarnation, without supernatural help? Why is this likely?

So first theres a list of at least 6 times I`ve misquoted you. Then theres no such list so you threaten me with an ignore list. But now suddenly the list of at least 6 misquotes is back again,BUT you still won`t show it unless you get 7 other people than "the gang" take a vote and decide they want to see it?

Are you mentally ill? I don`t mean this as joke and I find nothing funny about mental illness, but I have to ask this since it might shed some light on whats going on here.
And I really don`t want to press this any further if you are indeed suffering from a serious mental incapacity.
I do have to say that it`s still very bizarre behaviour regardless of whats causing it.

And why 7 people? What is the signifigance of the number 7?

Here you go again talking about things you know nothing about.
I do have a job and I`ve already told you that I work at home. And going through my posts to look for times I may have misquoted you is not all that tough since many of those posts have nothing at all to do with you and didn`t need to be examined.

And thats a hell of a thing for you to say to me. You who has over 1600 posts on here should not be talking about how much time anyone else spends here.

Well anyhoo....
This thread will stand as a testament to what kind of person you are for as long as it`s alive. It will then go to the archives where hopefully our childrens children will get to read it someday.

I`m all done with you.......for now.

Helen, does it ever occur to you could be violating any scripture yourself when you do that, and that I could post three or four myself? I gave you one already. Here's a hint for another: PM. And something tells me that more gratuitous, unsupported vitriol is coming, not from me. What's your guess?

Yes. Self-salvation is just delusional IMO and Hinduism gives you an excuse to keep up the delusion. History tells me it is ridiculous, not to mentiong the idea of changing into a cockroach. And who's working "bad karma" off anyway? I consider the last century in the top 3 or 4 the most violent, evil, brutal in history, and certain evidence of the utter hopelessness of survival, given the invention of the atom bomb. I believe that only those who are consciously aware of their own frailties and say "but for the grace of God there go I" have the slightest hope of salvation, or are ever willing to make peace. Such people are few and far between, and almost never come to power. God alone can work off MY bad karma and through Christ alone offers to do so.

How about this poll Fenton:

Rad doesn't have any list to support his assertions and is lying again.

Rad may have one and should publish it because it may help silence his critics

Rad may one but he is afraid to publish it because it's wrong.

Rad may have one, but he knows publishing it will lead nowhere

Rad and Fenton should just stop and ignore each other

Why does it have to come to this? Why do we need a poll? Why can`t you either just admit you're lying about me or show me the proof? This is not adult behaviour,Radorth.

I`ll gladly admit that I've been misquoting you if that is indeed what I`ve been doing, but I see no evidence at all of it.

From an outside observer, rad, if you have proof of anyone misquoting you, either put it up or shut up. simple as that. No need to be so melodramatic about it with a poll and all. I really don't think anyone here cares. If you didnt have 1600 posts i'd assume you were a troll and not really a christian at all.

I've been there with you and I'm not going back without evidence of some possible value other than vindicating myself.

That's the point. There is not even enough interest by fair-minded people to ask that both sides put up or shut up. I think a small majority of 5 people would go for "shut up altogether" but I don't know that without a poll.

Rad, my comments were a response to your post. You said "If people want..." and I was telling you what I want. You didn't say 'please respond privately'.

Am I supposed to PM the answer to that also?

Maybe we could get back to 'the fear of God' now.
