Post metaphysical naturalism and IDC

I'm a new member here, and a staunch opponent of IDC.

I just read the essay entitled <a href="http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/bill_schultz/crsc.html" target="_blank">At the Intersection of "Metaphysical Naturalism" and "Intelligent Design"</a> by Bill Schultz. I know this is not anything that the mainstream IDC movement would ever consider, due to their allegiance to a supernatural deity. However, it seems like the most persuasive IDC argument I've seen to date, despite problems I have with his treatment of creation ex nihilo, and the fact that even the author states that his "hypothesis is pure fantasy." But it seems, to me, that the only explanation for the origins of our universe that science will ever give us will be a natural explanation.

I would like to know what everyone thinks about the possibility of a natural "intelligent designer." And I would also appreciate any links that anyone can give me to other naturalistic IDC arguments or, even better, to whatever IDC arguments you think are the strongest. (I know that probably sounds like asking you to draw a round square, but certainly some arguments are more coherent than others. And we all know that weak arguments aren't as fun to debunk.)
