Post do victims have "free will"?

Seems the stock religious answer to why bad things happen is that god doesn't want "robots" so he gave us free will to make our own choices...

But um...people seem to forget that the victims in various situations are more than likely having their "free will" (to live their life without being hurt) violated, correct? So when bad things happen, does that mean god cares more about the free will of the perpetrator more than the victim?

Seems rather...um...mean. Sometimes I get the feeling that "free will" is more important to god than actually getting rid of "evil". That's why I'm still confused as to how heaven fits into all of this. I've heard from some more liberal folks that people in heaven still have free will, so theoretically, bad things can still happen...

Which makes the idea of heaven pretty pointless right? And if people don't have free will, and people only do "good", then everyone who says "you can't have good without evil, god doesn't want robots!" is pretty much mistaken.

Seems like a no-win situation...but maybe I'm just biased.
