With this couple of quotes, and the following hyperlink, I intend to prove both that Thomas Jefferson was, indeed, a deist and (for those not in the know) that the first amendment did have the intent of creating a fully secular government:

Note a distinct mention of J.C. in that statement. Below, you will notice that Jefferson deftly dodges this in his reply.
