I'm sorry, the site seems very thoughtful and I applaud the quote from soccertease to project an open-minded impression on their home page. However, on reading the above a voice from nowhere came into my mind "Therefore all allahs are socrates".

Anyway, thanks for the link, cheers, John

No John, that wasn't me - the voice in your head must come from some other source.

Actually it is quite a good page for promoting Islam. Calling it the "perennial philosophy" is a stroke of apologetic genius(not that it makes it neccesarily so, but it sure sounds cool)

What I'd really be interested in is a comparative religious study on Zoroastrianism(Zoroaster) and Islam, since they seem to me very similar from what I know and are both monotheistic, heaven-and-hell type religions from the mouth of a singular prophet from the Middle East. What is the opinion of Islamic scholars(or the common Muslim) on Zoroaster?

Prophet Zorothrusta ( Zoroaster) [pbuh] is one of the 125,000 prophets of Islam. He is not mentioned directly by name in the Qur'an. However, the Qur'an mentions the names of authentic religions, and direct recognition of their founder or "perceived" founder. For example, the Qur'an mentions atleast 5 Religions by name: Judaism, Christianity, Sabeanism( Mandeanism), Magianism ( Zoroastrianism/Parsee) and Islam. These Religions are given the special recognition , "People of the Book" for they were associated with true prophets. i.e Judaism after Jacob or Moses, Christianity after Jesus Christ, Sabeanism after John the Babtist, and Magianism , after Zoroaster. Buddhism is not named because it is more of a philosophy. Though some have speculated that Prophet Dhul' Kifl is Buddha. Dhul' Kifl has also been associated with being Obadiah as well as a second title for Ezekial ( arabic Hizqeel). Hinduism is not mentioned because it is not really a single religion , but instead a conglomerate of religions. Though, many Sufi Islamic mystics recognize Prophet Krisna, and Prophet Rama as Islamic Prophets sent to India to teach Tawhid or Holy Unity.

"And every nation had a Messenger" Qur'an, Sura 10:47

" Certainly We sent Messengers before thee: and there are some of them that We have mentioned to thee and there are others whom We have not mentioned to thee." Qur'an, Sura 40:78 and Sura 4:164

"We have revealed to thee The Book with the Truth, verifying that which is before it of The Book and a guardian over it." Sura 5:48

"And there is not a people but a Naziri (Warner) has gone among them" Qur'an, Sura 35:24
