Default Multi-Purpose-Transducer

I'm holding in my my hand the magical Multi-Purpose-Transducer. It is purported to "shield from negative bio efffects created by EMI etc. etc. blah, blah, blah. " Its recommended use is to help with joint pain, or to remove EMI from power lines, and other magical uses. You tape it to your knee, or tape it to the power cable of your fridge, or tape it to your water main, and it removes toxins and other assorted gremlins.

It is an 4 1/2" plastic tube sealed at both ends, with some sort of grey filter like thing inside. One of the engineers here cut off the end to see what is inside.

It's a roll of 500 grit sandpaper.

I am still laughing as I write this.

Please post your favorite exposed quackery, it's Friday I could use some more humor.

One day back when I was still living with my parents, my mother noticed I was tired and offered me some pills her chiropractor gave her that she said would really give me energy, were totally non-addictive, etc.

She proceeded to get the bottle of them (which was a used prescription bottle with the label torn off) and handed the pill to me. It was one of those saccharine pills they used to make before they came in powdered form. I told her and she refused to believe it, but by luck, we happened to have a box of those old tablets so I took one out. Not only was the pill one of those, it was from the same company because the shape, coloration, etc. was exactly the same. "Didn't you wonder why this basically tasted just like sugar, mom? You were literally given a sugar pill."

She never went to a Chiropractor again.

It truly is multi-purpose! On top of all those wonderful uses listed above, you can use it to sand plywood!

An old physics prof of mine had taped up on his office door an ad for hydrogen pills (whatever that means). The selling point was that they allow you to harness the same energy that powers the sun.

You would have to have a serious fever and a high tension headache to even have a shot at harnessing the sun's power with those pills.

Anybody remember the laundry ball?

I had a guy try to sell me one years ago when they were a hot item. I guess it actually did have a minimal effect due mainly to the extra agitation it provided, but I remember hearing people on the radio claiming you could put the thing in a washtub with water and clothes and they would come out clean.

I'm skeptical of anything that claims to "cleanse the body of toxins". I've never heard anyone adequately explain what a "toxin" is -- and isn't your liver supposed to take care of that anyway?
