Thumbs down

... and a pretty piss-poor one at that. This would not convert Muslims any more than it will atheists. The ridiculous claim is made that the Bible has remained largely unchanged! Somewhere here on the Secular Web is a record of the many different variations of the Bible. It chronicles how different versions have different numbers of books. Some have more, some less. And I don't know which version he was taking quotes from, but unless he's studying some ancient versions, I'd take them with more than a grain of salt.

Look at recent events: people seeking to add gender-neutral language to the Bible. Yeah, that won't change any meaning! [/sarcasm]

I don't doubt that the author has done much research and indeed presents many true facts. But taking quotes from the Quran out of context is no better than quoting the Bible out of context. He is trying to make a case that Islam is not about peace but Xianity is, but conveniently forgets to mention any of the harsh language that Jesus uses, and emphasizes stories of Muhammad's wrath.

He makes light of Muhammad's receiving the word of Allah:
Quote:
...he began telling his followers that the latest "revelations from Allah" were saying things ...
Notice the quotation marks (the author's, not mine), clearly he feels it is crazy that Muhammad actually was inspired by Allah. Just as we would dismiss some street preacher who says he talks to god. So what makes either of these different from the people who wrote the books of the Bible, that were "divinely inspired?"

I am shocked by the human rights violations perpetuated by nations that impose Shari'a to the full extent and would agree that that doesn't promote peace, but Xians aren't helping with their missionary work. I can't feel that bad for missionaries working in Muslim controlled lands who are harrassed or worse, killed. They should do their research too.

It's good that he recognizes the evils of the Crusades and the Inquisitions, but we need to remember that extremists are not good, be they Xian, Muslim, Jewish, etc. Don't forget the KKK and other white-supremacist groups use the Bible as justification for their hate of "lesser" races.
