Post Sigmund Brouwer?!

Just watching religious programming following the 700 Club (a guilty pleasure because it's so laughable) and there's this author named Sigmund Brouwer being interviewed on a show called "New Harvest" who's written a book about creation called "The Unrandom Universe". He's really pushing an ID angle.

In a basic Google search I discovered that pretty much all he's written before this new book are children's books and bad science fiction. On the show he's being presented as a credible science and philosophy expert (granted, I know the show's viewpoint is skewed).

So far he's said things to the effect that a singularity is literally nothing, Earth has a perfectly circular orbit otherwise life couldn't exist, without and intelligent designer how could the universe exist if the four basic laws of physics didn't exist before the big bang and scientists are constantly scrambling to prove that gawd doesn't exist because their theories prove he does exist.

I don't know what kind of crack he's smoking but it must be pretty nasty stuff to make him that loopy.

Anybody hear of this hack before or his authority among the creationist community?

I wonder what kind of "science fiction" he writes.

Sounds more like fiction science.

A singularity is not nothing, it is just a quantified singular spacetime point. It only has no spatial dimensions. Literally nothing is just that, the absence of properties and existence. Whoops.

Earth doesn't have a perfectly circular orbit. Whoops.

The "four basic laws of physics", whatever they are, (I think he means the four fundamental forces) have nothing to do with pre-BB cosmology, which deals mainly with relativity and quantum mechanics. Whoops.

Some expert. I'd be surprised if he graduated third grade.

Who knows. Even <a href="http://www.leaderu.com/common/colson-kansas.html" target="_blank">Chuck Colson</a> and <a href="http://www.townhall.com/columnists/phyllisschlafly/ps20020206.shtml" target="_blank">Phyllis Schlafly</a> are "intelligent design theorists" now.

Well his website is <a href="http://www.coolreading.com/sigmund/" target="_blank">here</a>

and if you look at his book links he lists his westerns and detective books under non-fiction, which may give you some idea about his ability to discern fact from fiction.

I didn't see anything in his bio to indicate any training in the sciences at all, so of course he is an ID expert.
here is another quote from his site, emphasis is mine, and yes I know it is just a mispelled word, but still:
Quote:
But Sigmund didn't begin to receive widespread acclaim until his first hardback novel, the suspenseful "Double Helix" hit the stands in 1995, a riveting tale of top-secret generic experiments, mad scientists and government conspiracies.
can you be both top-secret and generic?

another quote, uh-oh, some red flags here:
Quote:
But Sigmund's "overnight" success is something he doesn't take for granted. He has always been committed to speaking at schools and home school conventions to encourage young reluctant readers into the world of books. To further this cause, in 1993 he co-founded The Young Writer's Institute with home education expert and author Debra Bell. Sigmund conducts YWI writing camps and seminars for more than 10,000 children each year
or these
Quote:
"C.S. Lewis is definitely one of the writers I admire most," Sigmund says, "He wrote as well as possible, knowing that the Truth would speak for itself.
Quote:
A new companion was added to Sigmund's life when he recently wed Christian recording artist Cindy Morgan.
Quote:
"My hope is that the characters in my novels will live real lives beyond the walls of traditional church and allow my fiction to give voice to truth."

"Fiction science" is definitely the case.

His wife was on the show singing right after the interview with him. She pretty and has a nice voice but with the message in her songs she might as well be a harpy.
