Unhappy News Item - Parents refuse medicine for son

I found <a href="http://www.stuff.co.nz/inl/index/0,1008,1225889a10,FF.html" target="_blank">this story</a> this morning. It's sad, isn't it?

I'm just glad the parents were convicted (not geing vengeful, or anything).

It's very sad when religious negligence kills an innocent child . The conviction is definitely deserved, religion is no excuse for what is essentially murder. Isnt this kind of thing still legal in some of the U.S., though? I know some states have made it illegal, but not sure how many.

That's really a shame, that a perfectly good kid could be... well, starved, really... by his parents, and they refuse him medicine because "God" will heal him if he wishes.

Message to all Christians: Stop eating and drinking. At all. If God wants you to not die of malnutrition/starvation/dehydration, he will keep you alive. Good luck!

I'm not familiar with any state that has made it illegal, and in Oregon we've sent at least SDA couple to prison for criminially negligent homicide for refusing treatment for their daughter, who subsequently died. (Gee.... just like the doctor SAID would happen...)

Aargh! When will these stupid people get it through their stupid heads that their stupid prayers are no substitute for medicine? <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" /> <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" /> <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" /> <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" /> <img src="graemlins/banghead.gif" border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" />

This pisses me off so much that I'm going to be mean, crude, and obnoxious:

At least their genes won't contaminate the next generation now!
