Default Christians walk out when Muslim leads public prayer

Two Washington state lawmakers walk out during prayer by Muslim religious leader

Quote:
. . .

McMahan said she did not oppose having a Muslim deliver the prayer but left because "the religion is the focal point of the hate-America sentiment in the world."

. . .

In his prayer, Joban opened the session "in the name of Allah, the one God of Abraham, God of Moses, God of Jesus, and God of Mohammed, peace be upon them all."

He asked for blessings for the state of Washington and guidance for legislators.

. . .

"It makes me embarrassed to know that some of our legislators can't even treat someone with that common respect," [Kathy Erlandson, director of Associated Ministries of Thurston County] said. "He's an American citizen and he's praying for their work, then how can it be an act of patriotism to walk away?"

. . .
Once again, nothing fails like prayer.

I am soooo embarrassed... at least I don't live in either of their districts (Gig Harbor and East Wenatchee).

edited to add some substance: Article in this morning's paper said that their party boss chastised them both.

Don't know why they were so bothered by an Islamic prayer.

It's just ceremonial deism, right?

I read today that McMahan profusely apologized "to anyone who may have been offended." And the Republican Party has sternly lectured her, as well.

The question is, did are they upset with her because they feel her actions were wrong, or because she publicly stated what they feel privately, but don't want to let other people know they feel that way?
