Post "Theist's Last Supper" - a Poem

A Traditional Catholic.
Finding most of the old paths now blocked,
By his own ability to reason,
He now turns to poetry,
and the beauty of Tomorrow's Wish.
A concession, of sorts.

OUCH!

That's brutal, Wyrdsmyth. It strikes too close to the truth.

Moderators! Where are you when I need you!? Consign Wyrdsmyth's poem to some forlorn forum from which it will cease haunting me... nevermore.

Seriously, "a concession of sorts" is good. The "s" alliteration and compactness works.

In all truth, the old paths are now universally blocked. Catholicism and Christianity are in a state of apostasy. The three theological virtues, Faith, Hope, and Charity have been superceded by skepticism, desire, and sentimentalism. I admit, it does not look good for my side. But then Jesus implied that this would happen, asking if at his second coming (doomsday) would He find any Faith left?

Maybe the irony is this: when you guys win over the last one of us that comprise the Faithful remnant, the skies will part and Judgment will descend. So backwater dinosaurs like me are holding back the rain from your parade. -- Cheers, Albert the Traditional Catholic

Allahu Akbar! You mean Faith, Hope and Charity are mutually exclusive with skepticism, desire and sentimentalism?! That's new to me. Or perhaps you should learn to multitask better.

Not within your lifetime and, most probably, never.

Albert, you’ve got a good mind. Use it.

Ever wondered why they made faith a "virtue"?

Albert is a polychotomy. He is skeptical of other denominations of Christianity, other religions, and of course atheism, and then he demands that skepticism be regarded as one of the ills of society.

Dear CodeMason,
You complain:
Quote:

He (Albert) demands that skepticism be regarded as one of the ills of society.

Me thinks ye doth complain too much. It reveals your lack of skeptical credentials. I, on the other hand (the one without that "damn spot!"), am skeptical of skepticism. Real skeptics would applaud, not complain. – Cheers, Albert Mac Beth

Maybe the problem is in his timing. Aren't there several passages in the inerrant bible that he would come again ~'before this generation has passed'?

Dear Ecco,
You speak of "the inerrant bible." Last time I checked, books weren't getting arrested for the ERRORS of their ways nor released on their own recognizance. Only people err.

So You'll have to take this matter up with Protestants. They're the ones that idolize The Book. They're the ones that believe the Bible is self-interpreting. They're the ones pitching the circular argument that all who read the Bible with an open heart are filled with the Spirit Who guides their understanding correctly, and all therefore all who do not understand the Bible correctly (according to how or what!?!) have read it without being open to the promptings of the Spirit.

The devil is in the details. And the details are in the interpretation. That's why Jesus founded a Church, not a book. The Catholic Church has the Divinely instituted infallible authority to interpret The Book and rule on all other matters pertaining to Faith and morals. – Sincerely, Albert the Traditional Catholic

Albert:

I may have missed something here. But, which church did Jesus found?

Dear Mr. Fox,
Your mascot is known for cleverness. So let's see how well you can live up to it.

Hint #1: Jesus told St. Peter "Upon this rock (Petros = Peter = rock), I build My Church."
Hint #2: St. Peter was the first Pope of the Catholic Church.
Hint #3: In all the 25,000 denominations of Christianity, none have a Pope.
Hint #4: The Catholic Church still has a Pope.

Still don't know? Give up? OK. I'll connect the dots for you. The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus. – Cheers, Albert the Traditional Catholic Trying to Find a New Mascot for You
