Thumbs down

Geez, I'm not Canadian either, but here in Rochester, NY, it got lots of media coverage as there were many youths from this area that made the 3-hr. trip up there. Our paper reported 200K youths there on Saturday, and at least TWICE as many for Sunday mass! Where's the errant 5,000-lb. bomb from a US fighter jet when you need one?! Oops! Sorry 'bout that!

I don't understand why they picked Toronto instead of say, Quebec city or Montreal. Surely there are more C'n'E Catholics in Quebec? Nearly everyone's first name is Joseph or Marie after all.

Oooh! Not in Montreal, at least! There's a lot of Catholic churches, but not really anyone in them. "Human Life International", a pro-life group, had a couple of thousand people pelting them with snowballs and hooting when they made the mistake of having a convention there. Archbishop warned them...

Two things really push people's buttons in Quebec: the Church trying to influence legislation, and misogyny. Bad place for the Pope.

That's fair, but the scandal wasn't the abuse, happens in the best of families, but the cover-up by the higher echelons, who are now rather indignant at being called to account. Or to put it another way, I've never imagined Cardinal Ambrozic personally putting a hand out of place, but he is still the Darth Vader of the metaphysical professions.

Not me, if I were an honest clergy. I'd be outraged at the idiotic, inhumane, stupid, arrogant, misguided comment made by Cardinal Ambrozic that abortion is a greater sin than child abuse. What a prick.
