Thumbs down More IGWT postings

<a href="http://www.bakersfield.com/top/story/1431887p-1550280c.html" target="_blank">City of Delano to approve "In God We Trust" plaque.</a>

A few months ago, you may recall when I posted a thread in which my city approved the same proposal. Now Delano, a smaller city about 20 miles from where I live, has decided the same.

You know, the IGWT motto has been popping up so much in my local area, and with such overwhelming approval, that I simply don't care. As long as they don't go as far as the Ten Commandments, I guess I won't burst up in rage.

However, the thumbs down accompanying this post is due to a statement made in the link I provide:

Quote:
"We are not asking for an endorsement of religion," Powell said, "but an endorsement of our nation's heritage and patriotism."
I'm tired of hearing the same precise arguments and reasoning by supporters of these mottos and the pledge of allegiance.

Not asking for an endorsement of religion? Well, you are certainly doing so by proclaiming a preference for what is admittedly the Christian god and exclusively associating patrotism with it!
