"They" can usually be found at the root of most problems. But what you describe is not science. It is religion. Which is not to say that some people do not have a tendency to approach a scientific discipline with the same religious mindset with which most people approach a mythology.

It only works like that when bad scientists administer it. Sometimes it happens when people have an emotional or economic stake in the conclusion. Sometimes we are aware of our dishonesty. Sometimes we are in denial. And sometimes we are oblivious to it. It’s not a phenomena limited to scientists. People behave this way in all walks of life.

But he meant "creation" science.

Oh yea, this guy claims to be a scientist!

Talking

Socrates is sort of like the Ed of TW, except that he is downright rude and even abusive; whereas Ed is always polite, if not entirely reasonable.

I think this attitude shows an uncertainty. It's been my experience that the less one is sure of, the louder one shouts. Of the two, I much prefer Ed, whom I actually rather like.

Soc has yet to mention his credentials, that I've seen anyway, though he readily belittles those of others. Hmph. But, he's good for a chuckle now and then, whatever his experience might be.

There is, of course, little point in arguing with him, except for the benefit of lurkers such as I. You couldn't change his mind with a hammer.
