Post Urgent quote needed!

I'm looking for a quote from the legislative history of the insertion of 'under god' into the pledge that specifically states that it is to promote judeo-Xian values.

I know it came from here, because I referenced it in a post a few days ago. But I can't find it now, even with a full search. Can anyone help?!

Found it. It was in the slate.com article, which might explain why it got removed from the board.

I'm posting this here for the benefit of someone on another board, because the board won't take the characters. I'd be grateful if it could be left for a day or so...

FISHBUTT: Here you are.... took a while to get it. All the good quotes are in this article.

The legislative history of the 1954 act stated that the hope was to “acknowledge the dependence of our people and our Government upon … the Creator … [and] deny the atheistic and materialistic concept of communism.”

In this topic you'll find the President Johnson quote when he signed the change, saying that all the kids will now be pledging to the US and the "Almighty".
