Default Egypt Finds Oldest Evidence of Mummification

Egypt Finds Oldest Evidence of Mummification

Quote:
Egyptian archaeologists on Sunday opened a 5,000-year-old wooden coffin in the desert near Cairo to find a pile of bones which they said showed the oldest evidence yet found of human mummification in Egypt.

...The coffin was found in one of more than 20 mud-brick tombs, which Hawass said belonged to officials who had lived between 3100-2890 BC under Egypt's 1st Dynasty.
What I want to know is, why weren't these mummies buried under flood sediments?

Clearly, as it was made of wood, the coffin floated on top of the flood waters.

Maybe he was a catholic saint, and this is an incorruptable mummy? Perhaps the "freshening power" extends to the coffin as well?

Thumbs up ...

As a Church going Christian, here is my proposal.

Cause The Flood is a parable to teach people things of deep spiritual importance, not a serious history lesson.

Well, there are a lot of other church going Christians who believe that “The Bible is the actual word of God and is to be taken literally, word for word.” About a third of American adults in a recent Gallup poll, to be precise.

And with regard to creation, an even bigger percentage of Americans, about 45%, believe that humans were created in their present form in the last 10,000 years.

Given those two stats alone, I would wager that a majority (at least half) of American Christians would probably say that the story of Noah and the Ark is more than merely a parable, but is actual history.

You're basically preaching to the choir here, but try that on a Christian discussion forum and see what kind of response you get.

Ewwww, MW! I knew things were bad over here, but that poll is frightening.
