Default Wouldn't it be funny IF...

Had a thought the other night when me and my roommate were discussing the idea of "The Rapture".

Say the Rapture happened, and a million people vanished from the face of the earth. What if, instead of taking all the Christians, God took all the Atheists?

What would Christians do then?

"I now know for sure that I'm not supposed to believe in God... but I've seen His works with my own eyes! I've never been MORE sure God exists, but if I want to be saved I have to stop believing in him!"

*shrug* I dunno, it was absolutely hysterical at about 2 in the morning.

I've posed that question before and gotten nothing more than looks of incredulity. If I were the arbitrarily cruel Christian God, I would save only the atheists who were brave enough to reject a belief in me and chose to live a good life out of the kindness of their hearts rather than seeking reward or avoiding punishment. I hate brown-nosers .

Actually, the Christians would probably just think "Ah, so God has finally decided to smite the infidels. Good riddance." They wouldn't get the point.

Interesting idea but it will never happen. Atheists aren't cleansed of their sin, therefore they can't be taken to Heaven.

It is, of course, difficult to be cleansed of something which doesn't exist.

Of course, it's equally as difficult to be taken to someplace that doesn't exist.

Cheers,

I think it would be funny if the Rapture came and all the Christians disappeared, followed by the Last Battle - as predicted in Germanic mythology.

Odin: "Now that those panty-waists are out of the way we can have a real fight!"
