I saw a documetary in an antrho class about the New Guinea highlands and the wierd anthropologist concluded that when the females finally appeared to him without their veil (net) he felt accepted into their community.
Hmmmm... they don't currently wear any veils/nets (I lived there for several years between the years of 1980 - 1989). How old was the documentary???

This may be a little crass (or insert other intelligent-sounding adjective here)..

But I don't know many (not "any") women who'd expect you to get on your knees to worship them.

Hmmm ...

If God is a guy why would he put so many taboos and restrictions on sex? Why would he want it to be harder for guys to get sex. Nope, sorry god can't be a guy.

Default like duh

If God were a woman, we'd be calling her "Goddess".

Masculinity, brought about by the little Y chromosome, is a variation on this basic blueprint for life, and requires pairing with the X to be viable.

What a strange thought!

Simple answer. Guys like to rebel. Besides, most of the taboos are cultural, not religious. Granted those two are intertwind, but that is another question.

Remember this is a religious "proof", not a scientific one. And unless women were able to seed themselves in the beginning, you need both sexes.

Additionally, it just means God knew that unless he made other males dependant on females, he would have a problem.

(note: this is not my belief, just providing support for my "if" assertion).

Sorry, I don't 'do' religious proofs for anything at all...as far as I am concerned, the phrase 'religious proof' is an oxymoron.

As for my short discussion of X and Y chromosomes, I was talking about this: masculinity is dependant upon femininity for survival as a category of being. On the level of reproduction, femininity is normative; masculinity is the divergence from this normative state of being, for the purposes of reproduction. We all 'begin' as female.

Point taken on the oxymoron. And I agree that in reality there is no "religious proof".

The only argument I have is that with the way we have evolved/created (take your pick), we are reliant on BOTH the male and female being present. At least as far as natural procreation is concerned. Therefore it is a logical conclusion that women ( as they are right now ) would not exist without men, barring the occassional sperm bank (although those did require a donor at some point). And last time I checked, "most" females of our human kind (yes I know "kind" could be a whole other discussion) can not produce sperm on their own.

In other words I believe we have reached what would be a circular point in this discussion about male -> female -> male -> female.

If god was female, she would have seen that men would cause us women a lot of trouble, and made all of us lesbian and parthenogenetic
