Over at JCSM this has come up yet again. A link to AIG was provided but I couldn't stomach anything past

1) Ontogeny recapitulates Phylogeny was taught for years and still is to med students and biology students.

2) It was used to justify abortion because the fetus was "still at the fish stage".

I've taught biology for 10 years. I don't teach the biogenetic law; quite the contrary, I explain what is wrong with it. That's what I learned when I was an undergraduate in the late 1970s, so it's nothing new or radical.

There is no "fish stage", so I don't see how that could be used to justify abortion. Only creationists have that belief, so maybe he ought to tell the creationists to stop rationalizing abortion that way.

You can tell him for me that he's lying.
