Post "The age of consent" in the Bible.....

Hi,
I was wondering if there were any verses in the Bible or any other kind of information (sources/book names please) which says the minimum age when people could legally be married (and therefore have sex).
If the age is very low (e.g. when girls begin menstruation - which might be 14 in Bible times) that would be interesting since I am looking for laws in the Bible that conflict with current laws.
Thanks.

Off hand, I know of nothing in the Bible delineating when women can wed. I think this was more a cultural dictate than religious.

offa;
Read "The Gospel of the Birth of Mary", Chap IV, verses 3 & 4. Chap VI verse 5 tells about Joseph putting his "rod" in her.

Vesica:
Do you know at what ages women wed in Biblical times?

offa:
Does it say how old Mary probably was?

Offa;
No, it does not say how old she probably was.
It says "fourteen years of Age".

I have read that the age of consent in the Talmud was 11, but I don't know if that was for marriage or contracting. In most traditional societies, boys and girls got married shortly after they reached puberty.

This article states that there is no Biblical rule on the age of consent: Pederasty and the Gospel
