And calling oneself the Lord of the Sabbath could be some more of the sin of pride.

Also, his calling himself "Lord of the Sabbath" (or "Master of the Sabbath", kurios tou sabbatou) may be a way of calling himself "Expert on the Sabbath"; I wonder if that was a common sort of title for someone with great expertise in something in that place and time.
