Default Did the Bible borrow from earlier myths?

Hey guys, I need a little help. I need 10 cases in the New Testament where the Bible plagiarized earlier myths.

In addition, I'd like 5 from the old testament with reliable sources.

I just need help getting geared in the right direction. I don't want you to do the research for me, but put me where I can find reliable information

Thanks,
Dave

You might have trouble finding this.
Understably many people have a lot of problems with religion. I certainly do, but in my opinion it leads some people to see plagiarism where it's not really there.
It's possible you may find this too.

However I'm interested to see what you come up with.
The hebrew bible is full of older stories though.

I don't offhand know a good source that directly gives you what you're looking for, but an article by Richard Carrier has a lot of clues that will point you in the right direction. It's his response to J.P. Holding's "The Impossible Faith.", in which Holding among other errors repeated several claims about Christianity's uniqueness.

I would also second Judge's caution about using the term "plagiarized" in this context. It implies a state of mind that I don't think Christianity's founders, whoever they were, were in.

Doug is correct. However, if you need a list, check out Justin Martyr. He actually admits it. Or, look up diabolical mimicry, or something like that.

I don't think the bible directly plagarized (ie, C&P)...Although Vespasian's curing a blind man is pretty close....

I bring it up on this board (sorry about the cross-board post).

I have an article on my website on Diabolical Mimicry that I wrote several years ago which may be useful.
