Default Isaiah 45:7

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."

Please explain the "evil" part...

What's to explain? If you are truly a monotheist, your god is responsible for everything, including both good and evil.

Look at what god does in the Hebrew scriptures - earthquates, world wide floods, death, war, sacrifice. . .

"I make light and darkness, well-being and adversity; I the Lord do all these things."

So God could create an earthquake to free Paul and Silas from prison, but stood by helplessly as Paul and company were slaughtered by the Romans? Interesting.

"Evil" shouldn't be taken literally there. It is a metaphor. For "evil".

It means that god gives and god withholds. Polytheistic Greek and Roman religions [my scant knowledge of ancient gods stops there] say much the same: people pray and sacrifice animals to ask for favours and people fear the wrath of an insulted or neglected god.

What do you think 45:7 mean?
Evil is often translated as calamity, in 45:7.

Indeed. As in "What evil weather we've had."

As in "This chocolate is wicked."

(Too much sugar, y'see.)

Flintstones, meet the Flintstones
They're the modern stone-age family
From the town of Bedrock
They're a page right out of history
Let's ride with the family down the street
Through the courtesy of Fred's two feet
When you're with the Flintstones
Have a yabba-dabba-doo time
A dabba-doo time
You'll have a gay old time

gay

"Gay is a word (a noun or an adjective) that primarily refers to a homosexual person.

"The term was originally used to refer to feelings of being "carefree", "happy", or "bright and showy"; ......"
