That is an interesting question. Where did the Passion story come from, and who or what was Mark describing? Was gMark an allegory? Was it written by Alexandrians and revised by Romans? Was it some kind of eulogy for the destroyed nation of the Jews? Did Mark simply count backwards 40 years from Titus and select Pilate arbitrarily, filling in the details from scripture?

Why do think there is anything historical in gMark?

You are not sure about gMark? Well, what did the Pauline writers do? You are not sure!

The question is not one of history but of GEOGRAPHICAL setting.

The GEOGRAPHICAL setting in the FICTION story of gMark is primarily Galilee where JESUS walked on a sea with the same name and appeared to be A SPIRIT. See Mark 6.49

Aren't you the one who asks all the question?

It is almost SURE that the EARLY author of gMark did not KNOW that PAUL was supposedly ALREADY teaching that he and over 500 people saw Jesus in a NON-HISTORICAL state.

Mark 16.8
Quote:
8 And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed, neither said they any thing to any man, for they were afraid.
So up to the time of the EARLY gMark "Paul's post-resurrection scenario which was supposedly known throughout the Roman Empire both in writing and through preaching was NOT used by the author of gMark.

Why did not the EARLY author of gMark know the teachings of the Pauline writers?

You are not sure!

One option is that the Pauline writings were NOT written or taught by "PAUL" at the time of early gMark
