Here are my wtf passages. When I read them, I realized the Christian scriptures were inspired.

John 13:34
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

John 13:35
By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

Romans 12:10
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Romans 13:8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.

Did you read my post? Christians work on the sabbath, regardless of what day that is.

As for Jesus saying that it's no big deal ... does that mean that the fourth commandment is no big deal? Is Jesus overruling God? (Which would be strange, since Jesus also said: "Do not think I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them").

Jesus overturns the Law in the sermon on the mount and elsewhere. Under the new covenant, Christians don't follow laws, but rather they are admonished to act out of love (which will often have the same outcome as following laws, but not always.)

Jesus says specifically that if you follow the Law but don't have love, you are as guilty as anybody who breaks the law. Hence:

Matthew 5:22 21 "You have heard that it was said to the men of old, 'You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment.' 22 But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be liable to the hell of fire. 23

Paul and James make it clear: the law isn't something that Christians need to worry about, including the 10 Commandments. Their argument, like Jesus', reduces to -- if you're not killing people just because there's a law against it, and you would kill people were it not for that law, you got bad spiritual problems. Jesus replaced the OT Law with the "law of love."

Here are the verses in excruciating detail:

Romans 7:4 - Likewise, my
brethren, you have died to the law
through the body of Christ, so that
you may belong to another, to him
who has been raised from the dead
in order that we may bear fruit for
God.

Romans 7:6 - But now we are
discharged from the law, dead to
that which held us captive, so that
we serve not under the old written
code but in the new life of the Spirit.

Romans 13:8 - Owe no one
anything, except to love one
another; for he who loves his
neighbor has fulfilled the law.

Galatians 2:19 - For I through the
law died to the law, that I might live
to God.

Galatians 3:10 - For all who rely
on works of the law are under a
curse; for it is written, "Cursed be
every one who does not abide by all
things written in the book of the law,
and do them."

Galatians 3:23 - Now before
faith came, we were confined under
the law, kept under restraint until
faith should be revealed

Galatians 5:3 - I testify again to every man
who receives circumcision that he is bound
to keep the whole law

Galatians 5:4 - You are severed
from Christ, you who would be
justified by the law; you have fallen
away from grace.

Galatians 5:18 - But if you are
led by the Spirit you are not under
the law.

Ephesians 2:15 - by abolishing
in his flesh the law of
commandments and ordinances,
that he might create in himself one
new man in place of the two, so
making peace,

Hebrews 7:12 -
For when there
is a change in the priesthood, there
is necessarily a change in the law
as well.

Hebrews 10:1 - For since the
law has but a shadow of the good
things to come instead of the true
form of these realities, it can never,
by the same sacrifices which are
continually offered year after year,
make perfect those who draw near

James 1:25 - But he who looks
into the perfect law, the law of
liberty, and perseveres, being no
hearer that forgets but a doer that
acts, he shall be blessed in his
doing.

James 2:10 - For whoever keeps
the whole law but fails in one point
has become guilty of all of it.

Gamera,

If the 10 Commandments and the "old laws" don't matter why are some Christians in such a hurry to place them all over our court-house lawns, and prohibit gay marriage based on OT law?

Furthermore, if the OT laws don't matter why are they in the Christian canon at all?!

Because the Old Testament is there for anyone to pick and choose whatever they like. It is impossible to have an organized religion based on "love one another", so the OT is like this old card deck for you to pick the parts that suit your dementia and apply them. As there are millions of things in the OT, you can pretty much sanction or prohibit anything you like.

So Jesus got rid of the OT laws? Shows how he can't possibly be from the Jewish God. Co-option of an old religion through a figure who claims to be god, yet directly contradicts what that god called his most holy commands. Ahuh, really sound. This seems to make God a complete moron. Why would it have been difficult to have the NT message from the beginning? Because "they wouldn't have followed it back then!" Well that's fine, but than why would God say "This law can never, ever be changed, it is eternal and perfect"? It doesn't make sense, unless God is pretty stupid. I think Christianity would make alot more sense if it annihlated it's OT roots and had tried to make up it's own new religion.

That's right! I think God should have crucified Jesus on the 7th day, instead of taking a rest. A straight case of incompetence and negligence.

The first is: Genesis 1:7

followed by: what happened after the 8th day

followed by: everything thereafter.
