Default What I would’ve done if I were Yaweh

I would have poofed heaven into the exact state it will be when everyone is dead. There is no theological need for creation at all. The simplest and smartest way to get what I want is to create it the way I want it.

I would not have put the tree in the garden if I didn’t want Adam to get at it. Assuming I created Adam and Eve, for some stupid reason, I’d have put that tree on the moon where Adam couldn’t get his grubby little fingers on it.

I’d have killed all the Egyptians so the exodus would have been unnecessary. Really, if I can kill all those male children under two, why not just kill them all and tell Israel hey…Here’s that land I promised you.

I’d have poofed all the evil-doers into space except Noah and his buds. Look, it isn’t exactly rocket science that if I can add and remove water from the planet and cause animals to go to the ark and stuff themselves into it, then I could have just poofed them all into space without all that fuss and muss.

It seems that for almost every biblical problem, the solution this supposed god supplies is either weak or stupid. Anyway, I think it would be fun to explore the depths of these stupid solutions. Anyone else have any better solutions to the biblical problems than the ones the bible authors invented?

Like the proverbial ice-cream man with a handfull of 100s & 1000s - I would have topped myself and saved everyone a lot of trouble before creating a universe that was destined to vomit itself down the cosmic toilet.

If i were the god of the bible, an angry and jealous god, then i would have killed all the other gods and thrown their corpses on earth for everyone to see.

I wouldn't subcontract the damned bible out either... i would have had my damned angel slaves writing it instead of all those suckers who actually wrote it... hell, they didn't even get it right to begin with...

Let's see, what else... maybe there would only be one book to the gospels instead of four and then nothing else after it. If jesus said it, that should be good enough... i don't need all those other suckers adding their two cents in.

anyways...

I know there are some computer games in which you can play god, but I can't remember them. Anyone have any recommendations?

The whold thing comes down to free will.
John 3:16 is THE free will scripture...

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Evil, the by product.

as one writer put it, Being God is creating a creature, who you know in advance....is going to reject you."

The ultimate experiment with free will.

According to Calvin and many fundies of his ilk, it's already been decided before you are born whether your damned or saved, so the actual exercise of living and making choices is quite irrelevant.

If God chose you to be saved, no amount of evil works can change it, and if God chose you to be damned, no amount of good works can change it, so there's really no point to having the free will to do either in the first place.

Not much of an experiment. As they say in Vegas, the house always wins.

LOL, well said. When you mentioned Calvin, I instantly thought of Saint Augustine and depending on how you interpert Paul, particularly in Romans all felt predestination was a concept set in stone.

I am not sure what Luther thought.

In David Bercot's book: Will the Real Heretics Please Stand Up? . . . his view is that modern day Christians are weak sisters compared to early Christians. Among some his conclusions, early Christians very much believed in free will.

Um, need we actually ask for this thread to be moved to an appropriate forum?

This would be a better fit in GRD.
