Does anyone have information about the history of the book of Revelation? We're talking about it on another board, and I find it somewhat suspect, but I don't really know the whole history behind it.

Pervy posted a link to a Jewish Revelation written 25 years earlier about the Roman Empire that was supposed to make more sense, but I don't know how reliable or authentic that version is. I've heard that Revelation borrows a lot from the book of daniel, and I know it took 400 years for the Catholic Church to authenticate it, but otherwise I don't know the history of it.
