Default The Great Flood aint so bad after all

Any of You folks ever heard this theory?
If so, what do you think-

The Earth used to have another layer around the biosphere which was mostly moisture(most anthropoligists agree the earth used to stay at a constant temperature-this may help explain why...) , and a passing planet with an elliptical orbit to our own destroyed it, causing a great rain in some form or another

As far as I know this as the same as the planet x theory, 12th planet, or nibiru

I'm sorry, I can't breathe I'm laughing too hard...

Lemme catch my breath, read up on the specifics on that story, then tell you what is specifically wrong with it.

I'm askin if you have heard of this specific theory, because its really not too far fetched

-If you read up on the specifics you will likely find a bunch of radical conspiracy theory bs
-im not worried about that i just wanna know if anyone believes this theory is possible
-all continents have stories of a great flood in their history and this could explain such things as the water damage on the great pyramids

hope that helps and i dunno y nobodys postin responses but a'ight

There is no geological or archaeological evidence supporting the occurence of a global flood as described in the Bible - NONE - and if such an event happened, there should be physical evidence of its occurence. There isn't.

Wink

The planet was supposed to be Venus, I believe. Check google for "Worlds in Collision" by Emmanual Velikovsky (a true nutbar).

The Black Sea idea (as described in the other thread) seems to be the best theory we have for the origins of the flood story. IIRC, ruins of settlements have been found submerged at the bottom of the Black Sea. Scientists think the gap between the Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea at Istanbul was closed at one point like a great dam. What is now the Black Sea was a dry valley below sea level with possibly a lake at the bottom. People were living around the lake until the land was breached and the Mediterranean waters flowed into the valley. The water probably rose at a rate of several inches a day and forced the residents of the area to evacuate. Considering the narrow world view of ancient people and the large area covered by the waters, it is easy to imagine how the global flood myth originated. As the people emigrated in many directions, the myth spread to the surrounding civilizations.

So what you're saying is that the historicity of the mythical flood may be very likely based on a theory involving an unverified, equally legendary, planet x? Is that about right? If so...

:banghead:

And what about this extra "layer around the biosphere which was mostly moisture"? Is this perhaps the waters up in the heavens that was separated by a canop or firmament? What's really interesting is that the unnamed scientists whom you used as authorities in this "fact" are (cultural?) anthropologists, not climatologists/meteorologists or perhaps geologists.

:banghead:

Could you elaborate further as to the identities of these scientists and their theories?
