I find it immensely amusing that this is self-mutation's 666 post. Because a) this isn't new news and b) s/he obviously doesn't know a lot about life in the 1st century. As has been mentioned these are common names.

Both these stories have no witnesses or proof, coming from 2nd hand sources said to have witnessed a lone occurence. It is in total variance from the bold Hebrew, which posits 3 million Hebrews witnessing a divine revelation at Sinai, with a multitude of non-hebrews present, and concludes in historical premises, namely with an entire nation returning from slavery in Egypt back to their original homeland, and living and ruling that homeland for over a 1000 years - which has never occured before, and not subject to doubting in its historical positions. |

THE TRUTH CAN SET YOU FREE - IF IT IS FIRST RECOGNISED.

At this time, the Jews never used names such as Jude, Mary, Jesus or James. A true scripture must be authentic, not self promoting. I think the NT was too self assured that Israel was dead following its war with Rome, and became obsessed in bringing this to fruition for 1800 years. A truth would be if the Jews were hailed for standing up to Rome - this was the test - and the Jews won in this battle for the right to freedom of belief. They paid a price not evidenced by any other peoples in history - but they won and passed the test. |

Christ Conspiracy The Greatest Story Ever Sold (or via: amazon.co.uk)
The book I linked to above has a very well-put together chapter regarding the lack of evidence for a historical jesus. |

The name 'Jude', comes from יהודה 'Yĕhuwdah' in the Greek became Ἰούδας 'Ioudas' which English convention then renders as 'Jude'. The name 'Mary' מרים 'Miryam' in the Greek alphabet became 'Μαρία, 'Maria' which English convention then renders as 'Mary'. The name 'Jesus' comes from יהושוע 'Yĕhowshuwa' which in the Greek became Ἰησοῦς 'Iēsous', which English convention then renders as 'Jesus'. Yĕhuwdah, Miryam, Yĕhowshuwa, and Ya'akov were empoyed by the Jews, and are valid and common 'Jewish' names of the NT times. And of course likewise, the Jews never used the name 'Joseph' (ready to give up your name, 'Joseph'?) The name 'Joseph' comes from the Hebrew יוסף 'Yowceph' which in the Greek becomes 'Ἰωσήφ' 'Iōsēph' which English convention then renders as 'Joseph', Joe. As I recall, I have addressed you many times in this forum by the name יוסף, but it seemed that you could not read? or understand? -anything- that I wrote in that manner? You never replied to any issue that I raised, or to any question that I asked while writing to you in the Hebrew. You do not read, write, or speak Hebrew, nor do you read, write, or speak Greek, and, using a name arising in English convention as your own moniker certainly doesn't give you much of a basis to be insisting that the English speaking world use any other than those same English conventional names that you yourself employ. |
