Default Need help identifying a certain non-canonical Eden myth

I'm not entirely sure that this is the most appropriate category for this thread, but perhaps we can make do.

I am trying to find the name for a Hebrew (?) apocryphical (?) book which chronicles a variation of the Eden myth. It has been years since I stumbled across it, and my memory of it is quite hazy, but I do recall that this particular creation narrative gives mention to a lake (sea?) into which one could gaze into infinity.

My memory might be off here, but if this rings a bell for anyone, I would greatly appreciate any input. Thanks!

It might be the Book of Enoch. It is not Hebrew; the Dead Sea Scrolls have proven it is Aramaic, though the most complete extant copy is Ethiopic. It is pseudoepigraphical, but not listed in with the apocryphal books of the Christian bible.

Actually, it does not deal with Eden but with a story dated by Genesis before the Flood. Yet there is a particular description of Enoch's trip throughout the cosmos, which could square in your gazing into infinity.

Click here for an English translation.

Thanks, yinquier, but Enoch is not what I was looking for. What a fascinating book though, eh?

I think so. Good luck with your book. You are welcome.
