Default Textual Criticism

I wrote a paper recently (a brief paper) on criticisms. My paper covered Higher and Lower Criticism, form, source, literary and redaction Criticism.

CERM will soon publish this paper as soon as its converted to HTML. When its published and is available on cerm I should post the paper here or link to it.

But the book that I have been studying is called Introduction to the New testament by Carson and Moo. (or via: amazon.co.uk)

Its quite scholarly and not for lamon types, but for intellectuals. There is plenty of evidence in the book that the Bible is a authentic book.

No one doubts that the bible is an actual book. The problem is that it's a work of fiction.

If you would read the book I recommended it would show you why you are wrong.

Plenty of atheist scholars have tried to prove the Bible wrong and failed. The Bible has more pieces of evidence than any other sacred work.

Another problem is that most of the books weren't written when they say they were.

Bible John, I recommended a book to you in another thread and never heard a response. I'd love to check this out, but again, I'd also recommend you read "Misquoting Jesus (or via: amazon.co.uk)" written by (arguably) the most prominent Bible scholar alive today, Bart. D. Ehrman.

Even his basic thesis provided in his introductory portion of the book (provided that you trust that it is supported by the evidence and academic rigor which he claims it is) should give you something to chew on for a bit.

It seems that this book and the one you mentioned are right up each others' alleys. I'd love to check this one out and see what it's about, though the date on it makes me a bit weary... there must be other authors shedding more light on this subject more recently? How has this one been holding up in academic circles today?

Exclamation Mod note.

Off to BC&H for comment. Please return if Bible John is unwilling (or unable) to defend his thesis.

Wrong in what sense? This is imprecise and lazy language. Certainly many atheist scholars disagree with conservative and literal interpretations but they often find common ground with liberal Christian interpretation.

John
But, your major problem is that there is no evidence outside the book. All the evidence, outside your books, make the Bible appear to be legendary folklore, or fabrications with the intention to deceive.

Bible John. Do you think you are some kind of expert in Biblical Criticism because you read one book about it???

Will. L. I like Ehrman, but I truly doubt he is the most prominent Bible scholar in the world. I listened to some lectures he held concerning the Historical Jesus. He told his students that Josephus is a testimony to the existence of Jesus, and did not even mention that many believe that everything Josephus said about Jesus are Christian additions to what he originally wrote. Although I think Jesus existed, and was a doomsday prophet, I think Josephus wrote nothing about him, and I think it is quite evident:

What do you mean by "failed"? How could your statement be falsified? If they had succeeded, what would be different from the way it is now?
