This post was split from a post in the thread Fake or Not to start this new thread on Ron Wyatt.

-Amaleq13, BC&H moderator

On Ron Wyatt, I find often he is unfairly accused. As an example, he was very specific about the problems with the attempt to get a chariot wheel out of Egypt. However, future research has done much to confirm the chariot wheels and artifacts in the area searched (e.g. The Exodus Case by Lennart Moller and other reports).

When I have discussed this on the web, his accusers have basically then switched to a "so what" attitude .. a "maybe there was a horse stable near there and the chariots were junked when the new models came out" or a "flash-flood" type of alternative explanation.

Now, to be clear, the "Ark of the Covenant" claims of Ron are the least supported, ergo they are often given the most emphasis. Those looking at Ron's work in general I believe would do better to first read all sides, in depth, on issues like the Exodus crossing and Sodom and Gomorrah, or even his little discussion of Ur of the Chaldees.

They are not supported at all by the slightest bit of physical evidence, nor are any other of Wyatt's bizarre claims. The man was either self-deluded or a fraud, and it does not speak well for anyone to be taken in by him.

Why would you believe any of his shit?

Wyatt is a known liar and fraud.

Not a single one of his claims stands up to even the slightest bit of scrutiny He was a scam artist and nothing more. One of his sons admitted that the chariot wheel was planted by Wyatt himself and Wyatt failed a lie detector test when questioned about that and other claims (Not that it would have meant a damn thing anyway. There wasn't any exodus or Red Sea crossing to in the first place).

The majority of his debunkers are Biblical literalists who would be only too happy to discover evidence that the Bible tales are true but Wyatt was such a rank fraud and his claims so transparently bogus that many Christian websites feel the need to warn people away from Wyatt before they get swindled into wasting money on his books and videos.

Have you read "The Exodus Case"? Would you give a review of the various non-existent physical evidences in the book and video ? You can find one review in skeptic-land on the Net, as I recall, but it bypasses discussing the actual evidences.

Default Ron Wyatt - lie detector test ?

Hope you don't mind if we take one issue at a time. Above I mentioned the Lennart Moller book, and perhaps you would want to discuss that as well. Meanwhile..

An interesting accusation. Please give the documentation of this, when, where, who, questions asked, etc. Thanks.

As I said above, the "skeptic" dog won't hunt this time. Wyatt's most vociferous critics and debunkers come from within the Christian community. The "skeptics" (i.e. actual mainstream, legitimate scholarship) have barely found Wyatt worthy of notice. Wyatt had no scientific credentials and never submitted a single one of his claims to any kind of formal scientific scrutiny.

The Exodus Case

Pure bullshit. Where are the latrines? Over a million people, allegedly, go wandering around for 40 years, including camping out in spots for years. Where is the evidence. A chariot wheel underwater does not validate the story of Exodus.

Lie detectors don't work at all, so that means nothing. He's still a nutjob, though.

The information comes from the link I offered in that post.
Quote:
One of the individuals who I interviewed, who lost approximately 30,000 thousand dollars to Ron Wyatt, went to Israel with him, supposedly to see some of these sights and record them on film. An assignment editor of a major television station in Nasheville went with them. Not only did this individual not see any of these incredible discoveries, but his wife was told by one of Ron Wyatt's sons that the chariot wheels that Ron supposedly discovered in the Gulf of Aqaba were planted there by Ron. Mr. Wyatt gave this couple some coins which he supposedly found at the Ark of the Covenant site. Again, one of Wyatt's sons informed the wife that Wyatt bought those coins. Gentle, soft-spoken Ron verbally abused an Arab car rental agent when the agent told Mr. Wyatt that his son was to young to drive the vehicle.

This couple and the television man returned with nothing to show for the ten's of thousands of dollars he gave to Ron. Later, Ron returned and asked for $10,000 dollars more. This man told Ron he would give him the money if he agreed to take a lie detector test and sign a statement agreeing to allow this man to use the results of the test any way he wanted. Ron tried to get the money without agreeing to take the test, but when he saw that he would not get another dime without the test, he finally signed the statement and took the test. In the words of the man who put Ron Wyatt through the test, as told by the man who gave Ron Wyatt all the previous money, "He failed just about everything except his name."

After this, Ron Wyatt physically threatened the man who had Wyatt sign the statement.
The author is Gary Amirault from the evangelical Tentmaker website. You may choose to believe he's making it all up, of course, but I would encourage you to read the entire piece before passing judgement.

There's more fraud documentation available here.

Click on the Noah's Ark stuff especially.

I think the more pertinent evidence is that Wyatt's own son admitted the fraud.
